About Us
Townson Tractors Ltd is a well-established JCB and CNH agricultural machinery dealership with a strong reputation for supplying quality equipment and providing outstanding customer support. As our business continues to grow, we are looking for a Sales Engineer / Demonstrator to join our team.

This role sits between sales and service, helping ensure customers receive the best possible experience from the moment a machine is delivered through to its operation in the field.

The Role
The Sales Engineer will play an important role supporting both the sales and service departments by delivering machine demonstrations, assisting with product installation, and helping customers get the most from their equipment.

Part of the role will also involve workshop-based duties, including machine assembly and pre-delivery inspections to ensure equipment is fully prepared before handover.

You will also support customers with precision farming technology, including the installation and setup of guidance systems, manufacturer telematics, and uptime services, helping them get the most from modern connected machinery.

This position would suit someone with practical machinery operating experience and basic mechanical skills who enjoys working with customers and modern agricultural equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out machinery demonstrations for customers
  • Assist with machine handovers, installations, and customer training
  • Install and support GPS guidance systems and precision farming technology
  • Set up and assist customers with manufacturer telematics and uptime monitoring services
  • Work closely with the sales and service teams to deliver a first-class customer experience
  • Support customers with product setup and operational guidance
  • Carry out machine assembly and pre-delivery inspections (PDI) in the workshop
  • Ensure machines are prepared and presented to a high standard prior to delivery
  • Provide feedback from demonstrations and customer use to sales and service teams

Requirements

  • Experience operating agricultural or construction machinery
  • Basic mechanical knowledge and practical skills
  • Interest in precision farming technology and machine connectivity
  • Good communication and customer-facing skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
  • Full UK driving licence
  • A positive attitude and strong interest in modern agricultural machinery

Field Service Engineer

The Role
As a Field Service Engineer, you will be responsible for servicing, diagnosing, and repairing agricultural machinery both at our depot and at customer premises. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working independently, solving mechanical problems, and delivering excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose faults and carry out repairs on agricultural machinery and equipment
  • Perform routine servicing and preventative maintenance
  • Attend on-site breakdowns and provide timely solutions for customers
  • Prepare and inspect machinery prior to delivery
  • Complete job cards and service documentation accurately
  • Ensure all work is carried out safely and to manufacturer standards
  • Maintain a professional relationship with customers

Requirements

  • Experience working with agricultural, plant, or heavy machinery
  • Strong mechanical, hydraulic, and basic electrical diagnostic skills
  • Ability to work independently in a field-based role
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Good communication and customer service skills
  • Relevant engineering qualification (preferred but not essential)
